After graduating from the University of California at Berkeley, with a degree in Electrical Engineering Roy Elahi came to the realization that his real passion was in real estate and finance. He got his first taste of the industry when he joined the residential firm of Mason McDuffie, where he learned the basic principles of real estate. After that, he formed his own company and he began to purchase apartment buildings in the Sunbelt states.
For the next few years Roy focused on commercial real estate and then in 1984, changed over to the financing aspect of real estate. Being a numbers oriented person, he found the financing field to be more challenging and exciting. During 1987, he worked for the securities firm of Drexel Burnham Lambert. This experience gave him a bird’s eye view of the financial markets, and helped Roy develop an appreciation for his business from a more global perspective.
After the crash of 1987, Roy went back to his roots- mortgage lending. Since 1987, there has been a huge shift in the marketplace. Now more than ever, experience, hard work and integrity are being sought out and rewarded by the marketplace. With the continuous trend of changing markets Roy adapts and focuses on assisting his clients and presenting them with the best option for their financial story.
Roy has a strong support not only with his family at home but with his team at Stonecastle, which gives him the freedom to focus purely on his clients’ needs and their financial well-being.
